Our Year 10 and 11 debate team attended the Leeds Salon Debate Matters Competition on Tuesday 1st February at Mount St Mary’s.
They were debating two topics – “We should accept the risk inherent in contact sports” and “Monuments to controversial historical figures should remain”.
Although these were tough topics, our pupils were commended for their presentation, quick responses and their ability to engage with the important issues. After an anxious wait, they were found to be the winners, and now go onto the final which will be held at the Thackeray Medical Museum in March.
We are extremely proud of our pupils for this fantastic achievement and we are wishing them lots of luck for the finals.
