Progress Reports: Please discuss the enclosed progress report with your child and contact your child’s coach if you wish to clarify anything.

Meet Your Coach and Teacher Appointments: Thank you to all Secondary parents/carers who attended the Year 7 Meet Your Coach and Teachers evening on Wednesday 16th February and Primary parents/carers who met with their child’s Coach/Teacher on Monday 14th February. If you were unable to come into school at this time, please make an appointment directly with them or contact school on 0113 3368400 (Secondary) or 0113 3368401 (Primary).

World Book Day and Book at Bedtime – Thursday 3rd March: On Thursday 3rd March, we will be celebrating World Book Day. We will be centring the day around the book ‘The Word Collector’ by Peter Hamilton Reynolds. This book focusses on a little boy who loves to collect words; therefore, for this year’s World Book Day, we are asking children to write a word on a template that school will provide and then decorate the word. For example, you could decorate the template with food to decorate the word ‘aromatic,’ or use glitter to represent the word ‘sparkly?’ We are hoping that this will be sustainable to support our work around the environment. We would also like to ask children to dress up a potato as their favourite book character. Please see an example below:

On the same day, from 5.30 – 6.30pm, we are holding our annual Book at Bedtime event. Children are invited to attend the event wearing their pyjamas, accompanied by their families, to enjoy an evening of story-telling by our staff. There will also be refreshments provided by our PTA.

Year 10 and 11 Exams: This time of year is particularly busy for Year 11 as they prepare for their GCSE examinations in the summer. To support with their mock examinations and GCSEs, please encourage your Year 11 pupil to attend the intervention session applicable to the topic they are studying over the half term. All pupils have already received a copy of the intervention timetable. Pupils can also come into school over half term to catch up with coursework or complete individual study.

Year 7 Midterm Assessment Report: If your child is in Year 7, please find enclosed a copy of their midterm assessment report. This information indicates your child’s strengths and areas for development across a range of subjects.

Flexible Learning: The Spring 2 Flexible Learning booklet for Secondary Phase pupils will be provided for pupils after half term.
