Our second Peace Day of this year was focused on the environment.

Across both phases we had a range of environment themed activities and lessons to highlight the impact of climate change, and to help pupils understand what steps we can take to reduce our carbon footprint.

The activities included planting potted herbs, running a relay around the school grounds, participating in a zoom call with a young climate activist, creating recycle bins, litter picking and creating posters that focused on sustainability.

Our newly developed eco centre on the primary phase field was also officially opened by members of the school council and our Principal, Mrs Lakin. The eco centre is a space where classes will be able to develop their learning about the environment in a fun, outdoor setting. It forms part of our outdoor trail, which also includes a pond, climbing frame and allotment, so that pupils can plant their own fruit and vegetables and watch the growing process.

It was really encouraging to see so many pupils engaged in these activities during our Peace Day.
