30th March 2022

Dear families,

I would like to thank you all for your support throughout this Spring 2 Term. Many activities and trips have taken place for children in all year groups, including the Year 7 residential, Year 9 careers day at Elland Road, Reception visit to Homebase, Year 10/11 Geography trips to London, Year 5 trip to Eden Camp, Winter Sports Day, Year 9 Study School Showcase, Year 8 Basecamp trip to Malham and many more.

Progress Reports: Please discuss the enclosed progress report with your child and contact your child’s coach if you wish to clarify anything.

Meet Your Coach and Teacher Appointments: Thank you to all Secondary Phase parents/carers who attended the Year 9 Meet Your Coach and Teachers evening on Wednesday 9th March or the Year 8 Meet Your Coach and Teachers evening on Wednesday 30th March. If you were unable to come into school on these dates, please make an appointment directly with your child’s coach or contact school on 0113 3368400 (Secondary Phase). We have seen approaching 90% of parents/carers at recent MYCAT events, which is very encouraging.

Year 8 Final Examinations: The final examinations for Year 8 are taking place w/c 25th April. Please encourage your child to prepare as much as possible for these important exams. If your child is in Year 8, please find attached some useful revision material to support with this.

Year 11 Summer Examinations: The last scheduled examination is Wednesday 29th June 2022. Please be mindful of this if you are arranging any holidays or other travel arrangements. This means the earliest possible departure date for Year 11 pupils to summer travel is Thursday 30th June to avoid any external examinations being missed.

This time of year is particularly busy for Year 11 as they prepare for their GCSE examinations in the summer. To support with their mock examinations and GCSEs, please encourage your Year 11 child to attend the intervention sessions applicable to the topic they are studying over the Easter holidays. If your child is in Year 11, please find attached a timetable of when the intervention is taking place along with their mock results. Pupils can also come into school over the Easter break to catch up with coursework or complete individual study.

Key Stage 2 SATs: Thank you to parents/carers from Year 6 who attended the information sessions last week. The SATs tests will take place in the week commencing 9th May.

Attendance: Please find attached a copy of your child’s attendance to date.

Flexible Learning: The Summer 1 Flexible Learning booklet for Secondary Phase pupils will be distributed at the start of the new term. Letters have been sent home to all Primary Phase pupils this week with details of the summer Flexible Learning offer in the Primary Phase.

Term Times: Included in this envelope is the latest edition of our Term Times. This highlights some of the fantastic opportunities that have taken place over the last term. We hope you find this enjoyable to read through.

Leeds Learning Alliance: It’s been another busy and successful year for the Leeds Learning Alliance. Please visit the LLA website at www.leedslearningalliance.org to view the second LLA Annual Report for 2020/21, which shows the partners we are working with, our aims and objectives, our strategic plan for 2022–2027, governance arrangements and financial statements. We are very much looking forward to continuing to work successfully with our partners to benefit the children, young people and families in the city of Leeds.

CMCS Vacancies: We are always keen to hear from those who have the passion and enthusiasm we share to make a positive difference in the education of our pupils. If you are interested in joining our fantastic staff team, or know of anyone who may be interested, please take a look at our current vacancies at www.carrmanor.org.uk/vacancies.

Thank you for your continued support this term and we look forward to seeing your child return on Tuesday 19th April 2022. Please note that Monday 18th April is a Bank Holiday so school will be closed to pupils and staff.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Yours sincerely

Lucie Lakin
