22nd June 2022
Thank you for your continued support throughout the Summer Term. It has been another busy and productive term with a range of events and activities taking place for all pupils, including Grandparents Day in Reception, the school Dash, Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, Carr Manor’s Got Talent, a variety of sporting competitions and Year 11 stand down.
Year 11 Exams
We are very proud of our Year 11 pupils who have been undertaking their GCSE examinations. The dedication and motivation they’ve shown after what has been a challenging few years has been exemplary. We look forward to celebrating their achievements with them at their Prom, held in school, on 30th June.
Year 10 Work Experience
Throughout the w/c 13th June, we were delighted that our Year 10 pupils had the opportunity to undertake a work experience placement. We have received lots of positive feedback from the organisations who hosted a Year 10 pupil, and we hope our pupils found this to be an interesting and useful experience into the world of work.
Please find enclosed your child’s progress report for this half-term if they are in Years 6 – 10. Primary Phase progress reports were issued to families at the end of the Summer 1 Term. Please contact your child’s coach if you have any queries regarding these reports.
Year 7 and Year 8 Age Related Expectations Final Term Reports
If your child is in Year 7 or Year 8, please find enclosed their final assessment report. This information will indicate your child’s strengths and areas for development across a range of subjects.
Year 6+ Programme
It is one of the many benefits of being a through-school, that we are able to work in detail with our current Year 6 pupils, in preparation for their move to the Secondary Phase in September. The Year 6 pupils will be following a Year 6+ programme of lessons for the last four weeks of the summer term. Whilst their main point of contact will still be their Year 6 class teachers, they will be following a timetable of Year 7 lessons to help prepare them for the new and exciting chapter of joining the secondary phase.
We are delighted to be able to continue offering our variety of Flexible Learning clubs for pupils of all ages. Pupils have previously received copies of the Flexible Learning timetables, or they can also be viewed on our website at www.carrmanor.org.uk/flexible-learning.
Meet Your Coach Day
Thank you to our Year 6 – Year 10 families who attended Meet Your Coach Day on Wednesday 22nd June. It is an important and valuable opportunity to strengthen the relationship between home and school and continue to work in partnership together. If you were unable to meet with your child’s coach and you would like to make an appointment, please contact your child’s coach directly or via 0113 3368400.
New Academic Year – from Tuesday 28th June
On Tuesday 28th June, pupils in years 6 – 10 will ‘move up’ to their new year group. If your child is in these year groups, please find enclosed their new timetable. Information regarding Year 6 pupils is below.
If your child is in Years 5 – 10, a summary of their attendance has been included which covers this academic year to date.
Primary Phase Outdoor Area
Over the last few months, a lot of hard work has gone into creating a wonderful outdoor area for our Primary Phase. We are grateful to the staff and families who spent several Saturday mornings digging, clearing and building the area. Our pupils are already enjoying using the eco centre and reading shed, visiting the pond and going on nature walks. The area will have its official opening at the PTA Summer Fair on Friday 8th July.
Contribution to the Community
As a school community, we have set up a uniform and book recycling scheme. If you have any spare books (suitable for ages 3-16) or uniform that you would like to donate, please contact our school reception. These donations allow us to offer free books and/or uniform to families throughout the year. For further information, please contact main reception.
Data Collection Form / Consent Form
It is important that we have up-to-date information regarding your child on our records. Please check and make any necessary changes to the enclosed Data Collection Form. If you have not returned a ‘your consent’ document, a copy of this is also enclosed for you to complete. Both documents are to ensure we comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Please return both documents to your child’s coach or main reception by Friday 8th July.
We are delighted to announce that two new governors joined our Governing Board in May. Mr J Benjamin and Mrs S Byde have joined the Board as Co-opted Governors. Mrs S McInnes has also joined the Board as an Associate Governor.
