6th February 2023
Dear families,
Thank you for your support during this first half of the Spring Term. We have enjoyed a range of events, including the Year 11 Spanish trip to a Spanish restaurant, Reception trip to Sainsbury’s, Year 5 residential, Basecamp residential, Year 10 mock interviews, House dress making competition, Sports Leaders event at John Charles Centre, Year 1 trip to Kirkstall Abbey and Inspiration Days in the Primary Phase, to name just a few.
Meet Your Coach Day & Week: Thank you to families who attended the Meet Your Coach Day events this half-term on the 6th and 8th February. Please note that Wednesday 1st March is Parent/Carer Consultation Evening for Year 9, with Meet Your Coach Day appointments for Years 6 – 11.
Year 7 midterm assessments: The midterm assessment reports for Year 7 pupils are within this envelope. Please discuss the contents of this report with your child and their teachers during the Year 7 Meet Your Coach Day and Teacher appointments.
Year 11 mocks: Year 11 pupils have their mock exams w/c 6th February and w/c 20th February. Please encourage your child to attend the relevant intervention sessions which run each day after school. Intervention is also taking place during the February half-term holidays. If your child is in Year 11, please find an intervention timetable enclosed in this envelope.
Progress Reports: Your child’s progress report is an important capture of their attitude towards their learning and their progress achieved this half-term. Please ensure that you have spoken with your child about their report to recognise their achievements and accomplishments as well as discuss areas for focus and improvement.
Harmful sexualised behaviours: If you child is in Years 6 – 11, please find enclosed a leaflet that explains some of our approaches to identifying and challenging harmful sexualised behaviours in young people and adults. This is part of a national focus on developing a better understanding of the impacts that harmful sexualised behaviours can have on young people.
Flexible Learning: We are proud to host a variety of Flexible Learning clubs for pupils in all year groups. Please encourage your child to join as many clubs as possible. A reminder of the clubs we run can be found on our website – www.carrmanor.org.uk/flexible-learning.
School uniform: We have good quality recycled uniform and warm clothing that is available to all families. Please speak to main reception in either phase for further information on this. Any additional donations are gratefully received.
Warm space at CMCS: We will be holding a ‘warm space’ event on Tuesday evenings from 6-8pm in our Primary Phase. Families from both phases are welcome to attend to socialise with others, take part in games and activities and enjoy refreshments. This will start on Tuesday 21st February and run until Tuesday 23rd May. This is a drop-in session, so no sign-up is required. For further information, please contact us.
High School Musical: Please note that due to planned industrial action on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th March, we have made the decision to change the performance dates of the musical. The performance days will now be:
Tuesday 21st March – 1.30-3pm in curriculum time – a matinee performance to UKS2 Primary Phase pupils and selected pupils from the Secondary Phase.
Wednesday 22nd March – an evening performance from 6.30-8pm in Carr Manor Community School’s Secondary Phase Theatre.
