Dear families,

We hope that you have been keeping well throughout the summer months.

We have been delighted to see so many pupils – current and new – accessing activities and support over the holiday and we very much look forward to welcoming all pupils back in September, including our new Reception and Year 7 pupils, as well as our new Pre-school pupils.

Please note the start times and dates for each year group below.

SATs Results
We are proud of our Year 6 children’s attitudes to learning, the strong progress they have made and their overall individual and collective achievements. Our Year 6 pupils performed well, exceeding the published national average figures. At ‘expected’, pupils achieved Reading 78%, Writing 82%, Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling 73% and Maths 83%. Based on external targets, pupils achieved strongly at the expected and greater depth.

They are well prepared for their next stage of learning and enter the Secondary Phase as well-rounded learners with a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience gained as part of such a unique offer.

GCSE Results
We were delighted to welcome back our exiting Year 11 cohort to receive their GCSE results. Pupils have continued to achieve high levels of academic success, and we are very proud of their individual achievements. 72% of all entries were awarded at a pass (grade 4) or higher compared to 67.4% nationally. 28% of all grades were also awarded at the highest levels of grades 7-9 (the equivalent of A*/A) compared to 21.7% nationally. We are pleased that all our pupils in the class of 2024 have secured a post-16 destination be it a college placement, apprenticeship or employment. We wish them all the success for the future.

Data Collection Forms
Thank you to all families who have returned the data collection forms that were provided at Meet Your Coach Day. If this is still to be returned, please either post this to our main reception or bring into main reception at the start of the new school year. Please ensure these are returned to us by Friday 6th September.

Please find a calendar included in this envelope which outlines key dates for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Open Day
We are hosting our Open Day on Saturday 5th October. The event is taking place across both phases from 10.00am-1.00pm. This is for children looking to join our Reception and Year 7 classes in September 2025. It is good to note that our school is full with waiting lists in all year groups. If you know of anyone thinking of joining our school community next year, please encourage them to visit us on this date.

CMCS Pre-School
Our Pre-school opens in September 2024 and will provide 24 places for children aged 2 – 4 years. We are excited to extend our age range, and this will be a great opportunity to welcome younger children into the Carr Manor community and to work with their families. For further information, please visit www.carrmanor.org.uk/pre-school, where you can complete an enquiry form.

New Build Project
We are pleased with the progress that the new purpose-built venue is making on our Primary Phase site. The building is rapidly on track and will be completed in the autumn term. The building will provide us with additional curriculum space as well as give us the opportunity to work with families, community and partners in the new facility. We look forward to updating you as this project develops.

Thank you for your support, and we look forward to another positive and community-focused school year.

Yours faithfully

Lucie Lakin
