20th January 2021

Dear families,

I hope that you are keeping well.

Please see here the first edition for 2021 of our Chronicle@Home. This document offers puzzles and activities for your child to do and also updates for your family on some of the activities we have been undertaking as a school community. Thank you to all coachees who contributed photographs and updates; we have loved seeing what you have been up to at home as you complete the learning set by your coaches and teachers.

Coach Contact
Your child’s coach should be your first point of contact for any questions or queries. Regular contact from your child’s coach will continue throughout this half term as well as fortnightly editions of the Chronicle@Home posted to all families.

FSM Vouchers
The government has announced that they will be reinstating the national voucher system for families eligible for Free School Meals. We will be offering this for our families as an alternative to food hampers. Families eligible for this will be contacted by school to arrange the details of this scheme.

Remote Learning
Thank you for the continuing positive feedback about the remote learning provision. We continue to work on a blended approach, and ask that you continue to encourage your child to log on daily to access their learning, maintaining good regular habits as they would if learning onsite.

Y11 accreditation
The government are currently consulting on the systems and processes for awarding GCSEs and other Key Stage 4 accreditation in summer 2021. We will keep you updated as and when the situation develops but we can say with certainty that Year 11 pupils will be assessed for their learning and this will contribute significantly towards their awarded grade therefore it is imperative that all Year 11 pupils continue to engage with their studies.

Spring term calendar
We are currently reviewing the series of events planned for the spring term and will be in touch to update on rescheduled dates and times for events such as Parents’ and Carers’ Consultation evenings and Meet Your Coach Days that were planned for this term and now need to be adapted and offered remotely. Thank you for your patience with this as we ensure the best offer for all our families.

INSET Day 29th January
We will be continuing to run our planned INSET day scheduled for Friday 29th January. School will remain closed to all pupils on this day so that staff can access important and necessary training.

We recognise that things remain challenging for our school community as we all adjust to this extended period of time connecting remotely and unable to learn together in our school environment. We are grateful and appreciative of the many messages of support for the school team and we remain proud and pleased with the high levels of engagement and effort from our children.

Thank you for your support.

Yours sincerely
Lucie Lakin
Principal
