23rd October 2024
Dear families,
As we come to the end of the first half-term of this academic year, we are able to reflect on what a productive and positive time it has been. Our community has grown as we welcomed the first of our pre-school pupils into our new setting in the Primary Phase building. There are currently close to 30 children accessing this provision and we look forward to seeing this develop. Our Community Hub building is also progressing, and we look forward to keeping you updated about the progress of this exciting addition to our school.
We are proud of our Reception and Year 7 pupils for the way they have settled into their new environment and embodied the Carr Manor Community School values. When walking around the school, particularly during Coaching, it is lovely to see pupils of all ages interacting with each other, and our older pupils role-modeling to those in younger years.
Progress Reports – Your child’s progress report is included in this envelope. This is an important capture of their learning and progress this half-term. Please ensure that you have discussed this with your child and recognised their achievements and accomplishments as well as highlighting areas for focus and improvement.
Year 11 mock exams – These have been taking place this week and continue w/c 4th November. Intervention will take place during the half-term break and pupils are encouraged to attend the sessions relevant to them.
Reception and Year 7 2025 admissions – If you have a child in Year 6 of our Primary Phase, they will automatically continue through to the Secondary Phase. This means you do not need to apply for a Year 7 place.
If you have a child in their last year of a different primary school and they are due to start secondary school in September 2025, please note the deadline for applications is 31st October 2024. Although you may have an older child here, you must still complete an application form if you would like them to start with us in September 2025.
The applications for Reception pupils to start school in September 2025 open on 1st November 2024 and close on 15th January 2025.
Applications for both Reception and Year 7 must be made online and further information can be found at www.leeds.gov.uk/schools-and-education/school-admissions. Please contact our main reception in either phase if you have any further questions.
Individual photographs – Reception – Year 6 photographs will be taken on Wednesday 6th November, and Year 7 and 11 photographs will be taken on Thursday 21st November. You will then receive information on how to order these images.
Coaching Chronicle At A Glance – The At A Glance version of the Coaching Chronicle can be found on our website at www.carrmanor.org.uk/whats-happening. This is also emailed to parents/carers who have provided email addresses. If you do not receive this and would like to be included in the mailing list, please contact us at [email protected].
Friends of CMCS Newsletter – The first newsletter produced by Friends of CMCS (formerly the PTA) can be found on our website at www.carrmanor.org.uk/whats-happening. This has updates of the work that they are doing, and how the funds that they raise are being used. We are excited to host our annual Bonfire Evening on 5th November, kindly organised by FoCMCS, and know the children will appreciate the event.
A list of key dates can be found in the digital version of this letter.
We thank you for your continued support and wish you an enjoyable half-term break.
Yours faithfully
Lucie Lakin
Principal
