4th April 2025
Dear families,
I hope you are well as we approach the Easter break. Eid Mubarak to our families who celebrated last weekend.
We have enjoyed a range of events throughout the past six weeks, with pupils from across the through-school taking part in extra-curricular activities, as they enjoy and achieve during their time with us. Just some of these events include our Year 7 pupils enjoying their first residential to Kingswood, where they developed their team building skills and showed courage and initiative; a fantastic performance of Aladdin Jr to a sold-out theatre by a brilliant cast and crew; World Book Day celebrations including the Book at Bedtime; Winter Sports Day; Year 5 debating competition; Year 10 careers carousel; and a Youth Summit visit to Leeds Civic Hall.
Ofsted report: We were delighted to share with you the Ofsted report from our most recent inspection. We hope you enjoyed reading the report, which is a testament to the community that we have here at CMCS. Thank you again for all of your support, and to those of you who sent in messages of congratulations.
Parent/Carer evenings: Thank you to families who attended the Year 1, Year 6 and Year 9 parent/carer consultation evenings. We hope you found these meetings useful. Next half-term, we have the Year 4, Year 5 and Year 8 parent/carer evenings – please see the key dates table for when these are taking place.
Year 10 mock exams: Our Year 10 pupils have been completing their mock exams and we are proud of the resilience and determination they have shown.
Year 11 intervention: Year 11 intervention is taking place during the Easter holidays. Pupils have received a timetable and there is also a copy in this envelope. We encourage them to attend all the relevant sessions. Please discuss the importance of these sessions with your child.
Year 6 intervention: Year 6 intervention is taking place during the Easter holidays. Pupils required to attend have received information about the days and times of the sessions. We encourage them to attend all the relevant days. Please discuss the importance of these sessions with your child.
Year 10 Work Experience: This is taking place w/c 28th April. Pupils have worked hard to secure a range of placements which will enable them to gain an understanding of the world of work and apply the character for learning skills developed at school in a different environment. During the placement pupils will complete a reflection booklet each day and gain some feedback at the end of the week from their employer.
Progress Reports: Your child’s progress report is an important capture of their attitude towards their learning and their progress achieved this half-term. Please ensure that you have spoken with your child about their report to recognise their achievements and accomplishments, as well as to discuss areas for focus and improvement.
Attendance: School reopens after the Easter break on Tuesday 22nd April. All pupils will start at the usual Tuesday morning time. We will have Coaching period 1 on this date, due to the Monday being a bank holiday.
Our expectation is that pupils and families strive for the best attendance possible. Punctuality is also important – being at school regularly and on time allows pupils to make the most of their learning and the wider opportunities we offer.
A reminder of the start times is below. Pupils are to be on site at least 10 minutes earlier than their start time, to allow for a prompt start to the day.
Reception – Year 5 – 8.45am
Year 6 – 8.30am
Years 7 – 11 – 8.45am on Monday and 8.30am on Tuesday – Friday
2025 offer day: We were delighted to offer places to children looking to start Carr Manor Community School in Year 7 in September 2025. We look forward to the many transition activities that we have taking place over the next few months. The offer day for children starting Reception in September is 16th April.
Carr Manor Community Hub: We are very proud of our latest venture and are pleased to see the space being used both by us as a school and members of the local community. We are currently working on the website for this space, but if you would like to find out further information or enquire about booking the Community Hub, please visit www.carrmanorcommunityhub.org.uk and complete the enquiry form.
Please also see a list of key dates here.
We thank you for your continued support and wish you all a lovely break.
Yours faithfully
