30th April 2025
Dear families,
As the summer term starts, I am writing to update you on our continued progress at CMCS.
Some of you will be aware that we have welcomed 4 new additional Pygmy goats to our family. We are grateful to the many families who continue to be part of the team that look after our goats and we are excited about the input and learning our pupils can have as we continue to develop this aspect of our school campus.
Our community hub has now been in use for over half a term. Although the café is still in development, several local groups and internal school events have been held in the building and we are continuing to look at how we maximise this fantastic opportunity for our school and local community.
Our Year 6 pupils are busy preparing to sit their SATs, as well as Year 11 pupils preparing in earnest for their GCSE and BTEC assessments this term. The children are well supported by a wide range of coaches, teachers and school staff and I would encourage you to ensure that your child is accessing any additional support offered. We recognise that these external assessments are only a part of a child’s school profile and encourage our pupils to focus on doing their best.
Earlier this week, our Chair of Governors, Andrew Tidswell, shared with the staff that Simon Flowers OBE will be stepping away from his role as Executive Principal at the end of this academic year in August. Mr Flowers will continue to support the school’s partnerships and outward facing work, and will remain as CEO of the Leeds Learning Alliance.
Mr Tidswell commented, “I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the Governing Body, to thank Mr Flowers and mark our admiration for all he has achieved in his time with CMCS. His qualities of leadership, dedication and humility are an inspiration to all of us. He has created a legacy at Carr Manor that will be felt by generations of families across our community.”
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Yours faithfully,
Lucie Lakin
Principal
