Dear Parent / Carer,

The Year 8 Midterm Assessments will be taking place week commencing 1st December 2025.

These assessments provide an opportunity for all pupils to demonstrate their understanding of the learning undertaken so far in Year 8. As in Year 7, children will be assessed against Age Related Expectations (AREs) for each subject. Your child’s Coach will discuss the Midterm Assessment Report with you on Meet Your Coach Day in the spring term.

On Microsoft Teams, your child has been issued with a retrieval pack to support them in revisiting prior learning ahead of the assessments. This online pack of resources is designed as an opportunity to refresh learning and includes practice activities your child can complete outside of the classroom. Thank you in advance for your support in encouraging your child to engage with these materials.

If your child requires any further support, please encourage them to speak to their class teacher or attend the Independent Learning Hub any day after school in S1.
