22nd October 2025

Dear Families,

As we come to the end of the first half-term of this academic year, we can reflect on what a positive and productive start it has been. Our Pre-School is now in its second year, and it has been wonderful to see this provision grow and thrive as more children join the Carr Manor community.

We are pleased that the Community Hub and Peace Café is now open and available for community bookings, providing a welcoming space for local groups and activities. The Peace Café is open Monday–Friday, 8.30-10.00am & 12.00-4.00pm.

We are proud of our new pupils for the way they have settled into school and embraced the Carr Manor Community School values. When walking around the school, particularly during Coaching, it is heartening to see pupils of all ages interacting with one another, with older pupils setting a positive example for those in younger years.

Progress Reports: Your child’s progress report is included in this envelope. It provides an important summary of their learning and progress this half-term. Please take time to review this with your child, celebrating their achievements while highlighting areas for focus and improvement.

Year 11 Mock Exams: Mock exams have been taking place this week and continue in the week commencing 3rd November. Intervention sessions will be taking place during the half-term break, and pupils are encouraged to attend the sessions relevant to them.

Reception and Year 7 2026 Admissions: We held a successful Open Day on Saturday 4th October with record attendance – 361 families visiting the Secondary Phase and 69 visiting the Primary Phase.

Thank you to all our fantastic pupil volunteers who gave up their Saturday to welcome families, lead tours, support departments, and help showcase what makes Carr Manor such a special community.

If you have a child in Year 6 of our Primary Phase, they will automatically continue through to the Secondary Phase. This means you do not need to apply for a Year 7 place.

If you have a child in their last year of a different primary school and they are due to start secondary school in September 2026, please note the deadline for applications is Friday 31st October 2025. Although you may have an older child here, you must still complete an application form if you would like them to start with us in September 2026.

The application window for Reception pupils to start school in September 2026 opens on 1st November 2025 and closes on 15th January 2026.

Applications for both Reception and Year 7 must be made online, and further information can be found at www.leeds.gov.uk/schools-and-education/school-admissions. Please contact our main reception in either phase if you have any further questions.

International Day of Peace: On Friday 19th September, Carr Manor held its first Peace Day of the year, linked to the International Day of Peace 2025 and its theme, “Peace Begins with Me.”

Pupils took part in activities across the school, including art activities linking with inner peace, peace with nature, social and political peace, and peace in the wider world. Further information about the day is on our website at www.carrmanor.org.uk/whats-happening.

Individual Photographs: Pupils in Reception to Year 6 have already had their individual photographs taken, while our Year 7 and 11 photographs will be taken on Thursday 27th November. You will shortly receive information on how to order these photographs.

Coaching Chronicle At A Glance: The At A Glance version of the Coaching Chronicle can be found on our website at www.carrmanor.org.uk/whats-happening. This is also emailed to parents/carers who have provided email addresses.

If you do not receive this and would like to be included in the mailing list, please contact us at [email protected].

We thank you for your continued support and wish you an enjoyable half-term break.

Yours faithfully,

Lucie Lakin

Principal
