19th December 2025

Dear families,

As the first full term of the academic year comes to a close, we can reflect on some of the opportunities we have been able to offer our pupils of all ages. We welcomed our families into school for workshops and events including the Fireworks Night and Christmas Showcase, took part in house competitions, worked collaboratively with other schools through the Leeds Learning Alliance Youth Summit, and contributed to our community through pupils’ volunteering at CATCH and performances at the Meanwood Lights Switch-On.

We now look ahead to a new year and new term, where we will be continuing to build on these experiences through the Year 5 Residential, visits within our local community and further afield, and sporting fixtures. Together, these opportunities contribute to answering Big Learning Questions while enriching the breadth of our children’s experiences.

Christmas Events: We were delighted to welcome families into school recently to celebrate a series of festive events. The Christmas Showcase on Tuesday was a wonderful evening that highlighted a wide range of talents, and we also enjoyed our Big Sing, Reception Nativity, Pre-School Winter Songs Performance, Santa Dash, and the Primary Phase Singalong. It has been lovely to see our community come together at this time of year.

Progress Reports: Your child’s progress report is included in this envelope. This provides an important overview of their learning and progress this half-term. Please take some time to discuss the report with your child, celebrating their achievements and accomplishments while also identifying areas to focus on and improve.

Year 7 Midterm Assessments: Our Year 7 pupils have their midterm exams w/c 12th January. Your child has received a letter with a timetable of their assessments and a revision pack. Please discuss the importance of using the revision material to prepare effectively for the assessments with your child.

Family Consultation Evenings & Meet Your Coach Days: Our next Family Consultation Evening (previously referred to as Parent/Carer Evenings) is for Year 2 and Year 8, and takes place on Wednesday 21st January, 3.30–7.00pm. Our Year 6 Family Consultation Evening takes place the following Wednesday, 28th January, 3.30-7.00pm.

Our next Meet Your Coach Day for all year groups is on Wednesday 11th February, 2.30–7.30pm (3.30pm in the Primary Phase). We look forward to meeting with you on these dates.

Year 6 Mock SATs: Our Year 6 pupils will be completing mock SATs w/c 19th January. Intervention sessions are taking place regularly for our Year 6 pupils, with weekend sessions beginning on Sunday 18th January, 10.00am–12.00pm, and continuing weekly until Sunday 8th February.

Year 9 Assessments: Our Year 9 pupils have their assessments from w/c 26th January. Pupils will receive a timetable and revision pack during the Spring 1 Term.

Year 11 mock exams: Our Year 11 pupils have their next set of mock exams w/c 9th February and w/c 24th February. Please encourage your child to attend the relevant intervention sessions which run each day after school. We will also be running intervention during the February half-term holidays to support these exams.

Attendance: School reopens on Monday 5th January, with both phases starting at the usual time.

Well done to pupils and families who have been recognised for strong or improved attendance in recent weeks. If you have received letters because your child’s attendance is below expectations, it is important that you work with us to make progress. Attendance letters you receive outline who in school can support you.

Our expectation is that pupils and families strive for the best attendance possible, showing resilience and commitment. Punctuality is also vital; being in school regularly and on-time allows pupils to make the most of their learning and the wider opportunities we offer.

Term Times: Enclosed in this envelope is the latest Term Times, which contains highlights from the Autumn term. We hope you enjoy looking back on these fantastic events.

We thank you for your continued support and wish you all a lovely break.

Yours faithfully,

Lucie Lakin
