The Autism resourced provision at Carr Manor Community School opened in September 2019, with capacity for 12 supported places. The name ‘Mosaic’ was chosen by our pupils, families, and staff; it supports our vision of nurturing from different perspectives, recognising that we are neurodiverse.

The staff in Mosaic have expertise in supporting children with a diagnosis of Autism (previously Asperger’s) as well as children with complex communication difficulties.

Mosaic offers a unique blend of personalised support and intervention alongside individual timetables which incorporate 50% access to mainstream lessons. This unique offer ensures focus on the academic potential for each child.

Another key focus is supporting children with communication, interaction and sensory needs to access autism-specific sessions.

Mosaic facilitates engagement and inclusion within children’s age-related mainstream lessons. Children in Mosaic who have an accompanying anxiety need are supported by the use of low arousal techniques, and a commitment to creating and sustaining a low arousal approach.
